Introducing Our New Vlogger

Hey folks we’re excited to be bringing you a lot more video content than ever before. Sabattus Disc Golf is working with Ben Michaud, a local college student and filming fanatic who is going to help display our amazing courses. So here’s a chance to get to know the guy behind (and in front of) the camera. Make sure you subscribe to the SDG channel so you can get all the newest content.

It took some convincing to get Ben to try disc golf. His older brother had been playing for years and tried to introduce him to the sport many times over a 3 year period. Ben finally relented and played his first round in May 2019 and he’s been hooked ever since. If we can take anything away from this, it’s that older brothers always have your best interests at heart and you should always listen to their advice ;)

Ben has been filming his work for more than a decade! Here’s his first video 11 years ago playing roller coaster tycoon. Let’s compare it to his most recent work, of us playing the F9 of our Eagle Course.

His work evolved when his girlfriend bought him a GoPro camera, and he took his filming from video games to outdoor activities. Ben played soccer and baseball in school so I guess we’re lucky he decided to start filming flying discs. He’s interested to see where disc golf takes him competitively in the future. And from what I’ve seen he’s off to a great start just 1 year in.

It’s been cool to play a couple of rounds with him now, he’s got a wicked forehand and doesn’t shy away from taking the big drive. It’s always interesting to play with a lefty, they’ve got such a different vision of the world. You’ll get to see what I mean when SDG drops the video of us playing the Hawk course.

I’ve got to end the blog with a good story so here’s one about Ben. He’s got a few aces now, but before he got his first one, he was determined to play it cool. I’ve never understood the “act like you’ve been there before” mentality with aces but some people like to be chill. Ben’s friend hit an ace 2 weeks before him, and when Ben stepped up to the same hole 2 weeks later he told his girlfriend that he’d like to play it cool when he got his first ace. Ben proceeded to get his first ace and freaked out just like the rest of us did.

You can find Ben playing all over Maine almost every weekend. He’ll be the guy with a tripod filming his shots. He’s incredibly personable and loves to talk disc golf so if you see him say hi.

May your shots miss all the trees,
Andrew Streeter #70397
